Tool 04 · Sensation Lexicon

The Language of the Body

The body doesn't lie — it just speaks a different language. This lexicon gives you the words, and the questions to follow each sensation all the way in.

Find a comfortable seat. Let your hands rest. Take one slow breath in — and let it go.

You don't need to figure anything out right now. You don't need to perform or explain. Just let your attention drop from your head into your body — the way you might settle into a chair after a long day.

Guiding Inquiries

  1. What am I experiencing right now?
  2. What are the sensations in my hands, arms, chest, belly, legs, and feet? Scan slowly from head to toe — and just explore, without judgment, how each area feels.
  3. What is the quality of each sensation? Explore the dimensions below.
  4. What words or language come closest to describing what I notice?
  5. Can I welcome each sensation exactly as it is, and stay with it for 30 seconds — noticing what happens when I do?
